Vetiver is a root, and it smells like one: dry, green, faintly smoky earth with a clean edge. In a diffuser oil it is the base that makes a citrus composition feel grown-up, and it is the note behind the most recognisable hotel lobby scent in the collection.

Five ISCENT fragrances use it. Landmark of Luxury opens on grapefruit and orange and settles onto vetiver, cedarwood, patchouli and benzoin; it is the composition people ask for after a stay in a grand Downtown hotel, and it is the reference vetiver in the range. Eclat de Bois d'Orange sets vetiver under orange blossom and cedar for a sunroom. Citrus Elixir grounds grapefruit and ginger on vetiver and musk. Avenue No. 1 uses it in an oriental base under vanilla and rockrose. Aromatic, from the all-natural Wellness edit, is the plainest expression: grapefruit, bergamot, neroli, petit grain and vetiver.

Vetiver suits the public rooms of a home: entryways, living rooms, a study, anywhere you want presence without sweetness. Cold-air diffusion keeps its green edge clean; heated diffusion tends to push it toward smoke. A 100 ml bottle in the Ensō lasts about three weeks to a month at roughly eight hours a day, and vetiver is slow to lift, so short sessions are enough.
